Description

Program Overview

Interns assist with marketing coordination and administrative support that helps our sales organization communicate effectively with prospects and customers. The role is designed to build foundational insurance and marketing competencies, with clear expectations, frequent feedback, and progressive responsibility over the internship term.

Supervision & Reporting Structure

  • Direct reporting: Interns report to our Director of Sales, who provides oversight, prioritization, and performance feedback.
  • Team-based guidance: Interns work closely with the marketing and sales teams and receive support from the broader leadership team as needed.
  • Structured check-ins: Regular 1:1 meetings and task reviews ensure interns have clear goals, timely answers to questions, and consistent coaching.

Training & Development

Interns receive guided training in three core areas:

  1. Insurance Licensing Support (Auto/Home Producer)

    • Assistance and guidance through the process of obtaining an auto/home insurance producer license, including expectations, timelines, and study planning.
    • Access to resources and internal support to help interns understand licensing requirements and prepare effectively.
  2. Product Knowledge Training

    • Foundational education on personal lines insurance products, including key coverages, terminology, and common customer needs.
    • Training focused on confidently explaining concepts accurately and recognizing when to escalate questions to licensed team members.
  3. Marketing Processes, Proper Behavior & Techniques

    • Training on internal marketing workflows (campaign support, lead handling processes, brand standards, and documentation practices).
    • Professional communication expectations, including phone/email etiquette, responsiveness, confidentiality, and customer-first behavior.
    • Coaching on effective marketing support techniques (organizing outreach activities, maintaining clean data/records, supporting events or promotions, and collaborating with sales).

Mentorship & Coaching

  • Mentor pairing: Interns receive mentorship from experienced team members who help them navigate daily tasks, workplace expectations, and professional growth.
  • Skill-building feedback: Ongoing coaching focused on accuracy, professionalism, communication style, and efficiency.
  • Career exposure: Opportunities to learn from leadership through shadowing, meetings, and guided discussions about career paths in marketing, sales, and insurance.

Outcome

By the end of the program, interns will have practical experience supporting marketing and sales operations, improved confidence in professional communication, and a clear foundation in insurance product knowledge—along with structured support toward becoming licensed as an auto/home insurance producer.

Responsibilities

Internship Responsibilities (Marketing Support Assistant – Auto/Home Insurance)

This internship is structured around supervised, skill-building projects that help students learn lead development, customer outreach, and basic insurance quoting workflows. Intern responsibilities emphasize measurable learning outcomes and results-driven activities, with limited administrative work.

  • Lead filtering and qualification (training-based): Review incoming leads, verify available data, categorize by readiness/fit, and document next steps using defined criteria. Escalate questions and follow established guidelines to ensure quality and compliance.

  • Quote preparation (supervised): Create auto/home quotes using provided tools and training. Ensure accuracy and completeness of required information, and route quotes for review/approval as needed based on licensing status and internal procedures.

  • Coverage suggestions based on known data (guided learning): Use customer-provided information to recommend potential coverage options for discussion (e.g., limits, deductibles, endorsements) while clearly following compliance expectations and deferring final recommendations to licensed staff when required.

  • Qualified lead handoff to sales (collaborative workflow): Coordinate directly with current sales staff to hand off qualified leads, including a concise summary of customer needs, quote status, and recommended next steps. Participate in quick debriefs to learn what drove conversion outcomes.

  • Multi-channel outreach to potential customers (results-focused): Conduct outreach to a community of prospective customers through email, postmail, text, and phone, using approved scripts and messaging. Track responses, follow up appropriately, and refine messaging based on coaching and performance data.

  • Personal goal setting and workday planning: Design a daily work plan around income- and results-focused personal goals (e.g., outreach volume, conversations, quotes created, appointments set), reviewed regularly with the Director of Sales and team for accountability and growth.

  • Basic performance tracking and reflection: Maintain simple activity/outcome tracking (contacts made, response rates, quotes generated, qualified handoffs) and share learnings during check-ins to improve efficiency and communication techniques.

Qualifications

Qualification Requirements

  • Current high school student (Junior or Senior) in good academic standing.
  • Positive attitude and professional demeanor; dependable and respectful in a team environment.
  • Competitive, goal-oriented mindset with motivation to meet activity and performance targets.
  • Strong willingness to learn new tools, processes, and insurance concepts.
  • Coachable and open to feedback, with the ability to apply guidance quickly and consistently.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, including clear, professional email/text communication and confident phone etiquette.
