Description

Oulala is a small food business offering Haitian-style spicy peanut butter to the U.S. market. Our products combine bold flavor, cultural heritage, and quality ingredients to introduce consumers to a unique culinary experience. As a growing brand, Oulala is focused on increasing visibility, strengthening customer engagement, and expanding sales through direct-to-consumer channels, farmers markets, events, and online outreach.

The internship will give a college student hands-on experience in social media marketing within an entrepreneurial food business environment. The intern will support the development and execution of a social media campaign designed to grow brand awareness, engage customers, and drive sales. Responsibilities may include content planning, creating and scheduling posts, assisting with short-form video ideas, tracking engagement metrics, researching trends, and helping tell the brand story in a compelling and authentic way.

The intern will receive direct supervision from the founder of Oulala, who will provide regular guidance, feedback, and mentorship. Supervision will include weekly check-ins, collaborative planning sessions, review of content before publication, and coaching on brand voice, audience engagement, and marketing strategy. The intern will also receive practical training in small business marketing, content development, campaign organization, and basic performance analysis.

The learning goals for the intern are to build real-world experience in social media marketing, strengthen content creation and communication skills, learn how branding works in a startup setting, and understand how digital marketing supports sales and business growth. The internship is intended to help the student grow both creatively and professionally while contributing meaningfully to a mission-driven, culturally rooted brand.

Responsibilities

The intern will work on project-based assignments that support Oulala’s social media marketing efforts and broader brand visibility goals. Rather than performing routine employee duties, the intern will take part in creative and developmental work designed to provide meaningful learning opportunities in marketing, branding, and entrepreneurship.

Projects may include helping develop a social media content calendar, brainstorming and drafting post ideas, assisting with short-form video concepts, researching customer trends and competitor activity, and identifying ways to strengthen audience engagement across platforms. The intern may also help gather photos, testimonials, and brand stories from events and markets to support authentic content creation.

In addition, the intern may assist with tracking campaign performance by reviewing engagement data and helping prepare simple reports with recommendations for improvement. They may also contribute ideas for promotional campaigns, product storytelling, and community engagement strategies that align with Oulala’s mission and target market.

Administrative tasks will be limited and only included when they support the intern’s learning and project work, such as organizing digital content files or helping schedule content production. The internship will be centered on hands-on marketing experience, creative participation, and skill development rather than routine clerical support.

Qualifications

The ideal intern is a college student with a strong interest in marketing, branding, communications, or entrepreneurship. They should be creative, social media savvy, and a self-starter who is eager to learn and contribute ideas. Strong communication skills, basic familiarity with major social media platforms, and an interest in food, culture, and small business are preferred. No extensive professional experience is required.
