Communications and Event Coordinator 2026-27

Description

Teachers' Treasures is a robust nonprofit that allows employees to learn and embrace new skills and new ideas. This is a team based group with a lot of pride, passion, enthusiasm, and mission-focus. We work with teachers who serve those kids who show up to school without the necessary tools needed to succeed in school. We work to fill that gap by offering a free store (and we have three locations) where teachers can access items free of charge. Every day is different but every day we work to help teachers help kids. This position will have the support of the team but the automony to do solo projects and own certain aspects of our work. We will mold the job around interests and skill level, but we all pitch in on events and projects where needed. No silos here.

Responsibilities

We are growing a city-wide program to engage more businesses in a back to school supplies drive which we will work on through the year. We have a large goal for this but will take steps to grow this program. This position will do data-mining and research potential target businesses, build a spreadsheet with prospect and communication information, be a liason to said companies as they maneuver becoming a participating business partner.   Providing social media kits to each partner to assist in their success and be a guide to those businesses as needed to assure their comfort with launching a drive in their business.   Having an in person presence to celebrate the success of the drives and assisting with the planning of the deliveries and stewardship of each business.  Under the leadership of the Director of Community Engagement, this person will meet one on one weekly and more as needed to make sure the production schedule is covered and the intern is comfortable with the strategy and logistics. All employees' ideas and input are welcome and heard. We do several events as well on the fundraising side and this position will play a key role in them. Further, we have shopping that needs to be supported and we rotate our team in that effort. This is not a lick envelopes kind of position - there's a lot more to it.    

 

Qualifications

We are looking for someone willing to learn and grow. We will make sure that the person feels trained and supported in the tasks and projects assigned to them. We are looking for an Indianapolis based or near by person. We look for someone who likes a challenge, does well in a team based environment, and enjoys people.
