Description

The Society of Broadcast Engineers (SBE) is a national nonprofit professional association dedicated to advancing the technical and professional development of broadcast and media engineers. SBE supports members through education, certification, professional standards, and industry engagement across radio, television, and digital media platforms.

This unpaid, in-person internship is designed as a learning-focused educational experience for students interested in nonprofit organizations, professional associations, communications, or workforce development in STEM-related fields. The intern will gain hands-on exposure to nonprofit operations while working closely with staff at SBE’s Indianapolis office.

 

Responsibilities

Organizational & Administrative Learning:

- Assist with document organization and internal systems – overseeing a digitization of member records.

- Observe nonprofit office operations – responsible for the oversight of incoming and outgoing mail. 

- Learn administrative best practices

 

Communications & Engagement Support:

- Assist with newsletters and announcements

- Help update website and member communications

- Support the social media projects of the Society in alignment with the Communications Director

 

Programs & Member Services Exposure:

- Support coordination of educational programs and events

- Schedule and support all webinars as directed by the Education Director

- Observe member service operations

 

Educational & Special Projects:

- Participate in guided projects aligned with academic interests

- Assist the Executive Director with special projects

- Attend staff meetings focused on learning outcomes

Qualifications

- Currently enrolled undergraduate or graduate student

- Able to commit to in-person work in Indianapolis

- Interest in nonprofit management, communications, or STEM-related industries

- Strong written and verbal communication skills

- Organized, dependable, and eager to learn
