Fort Wayne Civic Theatre is offering a Paid Set Construction and Design internship for Summer Semester 2026! Come join our team!

This position is for individuals looking to enhance their set construction and design skills and may also include hands-on training the following areas: painting/sketching, prop making, construction, electrical, lighting design, costuming, sewing, rigging, sound engineering, and sound design.

Gain valuable experience while working alongside Theatre Industry Professionals!

Responsibilities

Assist in the following areas: set building/carpentry, scenic painting, and prop construction

May additionally assist in the following areas: costuming, lighting (including hang and focus), and sound

Lead and assist on projects in the shop alongside shop staff and volunteers.

All activities would take place in our supervised shop/stage and during an agreed-upon schedule.

The internship provides valuable real-life experience working on large-scale professional-quality productions within a local setting.

Qualifications

Must be a high school junior or senior.

Must have an interest or background in Construction and Theatrical Set Design and Build. Prior experience is not necessary.

The approximate dates for the internship are May 24th, 2026 – August 21, 2026. Schedule may be adjusted depending on applicant’s availability.

Internship must be for at least 12 hours per week.

This position is ideal for multi-talented junior or senior High School Students students seeking on-the-job construction and set design experience and a desire to refine and showcase existing talents as well as learn new skills.
