Description
The Sports Coordinator Intern plays an active role in supporting the Evansville Regional Sports Commission (ERSC) by helping bring exciting sporting events to life. From coordinating event logistics and organizing volunteers to managing participant registration, supporting internal marketing efforts, and communicating with participants, this internship offers real-world experience every step of the way. The Intern will work side-by-side with the ERSC Executive Director to help plan, execute, and deliver a large-scale event—culminating in the excitement of event day.
Responsibilities
- Volunteer Coordination: Recruit, train, and manage volunteers.
- Registration Management: Oversee participant sign-ups and ensure accurate records.
- Event Setup & Support: Assist with event setup, including tables and promotional materials, and provide general support during events to ensure smooth operations.
- Marketing & Communication: Develop internal promotional strategies and create event-related communications alongside the E-REP Marketing team.
- Event Growth Strategy: Research and implement ways to expand the event’s reach.
- Content Review: Proofread and edit all event materials for accuracy and consistency.
- Calendar Management: Track deadlines, meetings, and important milestones leading up to the event.
- Vendor Coordination: Serve as the main contact for vendors and oversee vendor event setup.
- Growth Zone Management: Upload all event details into the Growth Zone platform and monitor for updates.
Qualifications
Education:
Currently pursuing or recently finished an Associate's or Bachelor's in Marketing, Event Management, Communications, Kinesiology, or a related field.
Experience and Skills:
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Ability to work independently and take initiative.
- Experience with event planning, marketing, or volunteer coordination is a plus.
- Experience in the following computer programs: Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
