Interior Design Intern
Description
Reclaiming Design is currently looking to grow their team! Currently, it is run solely by its founder- LeeAnn Miller. Seeking self-motivated, creative, and passionate team members to deliver an exceptional client experience. This is paid internship; duration (minimum 8 weeks) and weekly hours are negotiable (minimum 12 hours per week).
The interior design intern will be responsible for various tasks associated with residential and commercial projects. This person will help the lead interior designer on each project with keeping on task/projects moving forward. The intern will be exposed to different project types, clients, and other professionals in our industry.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities
Interior Design (80%)
- Developing material palettes, presentation materials and mood boards (digitally) as instructed by lead interior designer.
- Developing floor plans and 3D renderings with direction from the lead interior designer.
- Developing and assisting with showroom planning (layout and materials).
- Upkeep, organization and returning of material samples, brochures, etc. for the library.
- As needed and directed by lead interior designer; contact and schedule representatives for meetings and product updates.
- Maintaining/updating internal resource/vendor list.
- Assist lead interior designer with quotes and other project deliverables.
- Project management, such as assisting with creating purchase orders, placing orders, tracking orders, being on site for deliveries, etc.
- Assisting lead interior designer with field measurements and other field verification details.
- Assist with other related responsibilities as assigned (social media marketing, etc.).
Administrative (20%)
- Participate in team meetings and other related goal sessions.
- Participate in live, virtual, or video trainings as assigned by lead interior designer.
- Complete administrative tasks such as time sheet tracking, expense reports, developing process sheets (under direction), etc.
Competencies
- Technical Knowledge
- Knowledge and basic understanding of interior design principles and ability to apply to various projects.
- Ability to use design software and create plans.
- Technology
- Able to use office technology (computers, tablets, mobile phones, printers, etc) and other relevant technology to complete company’s needs.
- Communication
- Communicating is key- in written and oral forms- to each client/project. Must be able to communicate clearly (whether internal or external) and ensure that each person/client understands the message.
Qualifications
Technical Qualifications
- Enrolled in Interior Design program at college or university level (preferred).
- Experience with AutoCAD and Chief Architect is preferred, but not required.
- Other program knowledge, such as SketchUp, Revit, project management tools, etc. is a plus.
Physical Qualifications
- Able to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time.
- Able to assist in carrying/moving project materials.
- Able to assist lead interior designer at client sites/construction sites.
