Description
This intership program will place students in biomedical research laboratories on the campuses of IU-Indianapolis and the IU Medical School
Each intern will be supervised by a designated mentor (faculty member, research scientist, and/or project lead) and will recieve near‑peer mentorship from graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, or professional staff. Training includes an onboarding orientation (as a cohort), required safety and professionalism training (within each laboratory environment), and structured guidance in research and workplace skills.

3 - Exploring research-related careers and post-high school pathways to those careers.
Responsibilities
Typical intern projects may include:
- Assisting with data collection, data entry, or basic data analysis
- Supporting laboratory or project workflows under direct supervision
- Learning and applying basic research, documentation, or technical methods
- Participating in team meetings and project discussions
- Preparing a brief summary, poster, and/or presentation describing what they learned
Qualifications
- Current high school student
- Interest in STEM, research, healthcare, or innovation-related careers
- Willingness to learn, follow instructions, and work as part of a team
- Basic communication skills and reliability
