Description
The Human Resources Assistant Intern is an entry-level opportunity designed for individuals interested in gaining hands-on experience in human resources, employee support, and administrative operations within a nonprofit community healthcare organization. This role provides practical training and work experience while supporting HR functions, employee engagement activities, and day-to-day administrative operations in a professional healthcare environment.
The intern will work closely with the Human Resources team to learn HR processes, onboarding procedures, personnel administration, and workplace professionalism. No prior human resources or office experience is required; training will be provided.
Responsibilities
- Assist with onboarding and new hire administrative processes
- Support organizing, filing, scanning, and maintaining employee records and HR documentation
- Assist as backup to payroll and HRIS platform integrations
- Assist with the communication, enrollments and management of benefits
- Assist with scheduling interviews, meetings, and training sessions
- Help prepare onboarding materials, employee communications, and HR packets
- Support data entry and maintenance of HR systems and records
- Assist with employee engagement activities and departmental projects
- Answer and direct phone calls or internal inquiries professionally
- Assist with performance management and documentation measures
- Assist with tracking training completions and required documentation
- Provide administrative support for recruitment and hiring activities
- Maintain confidentiality of employee and organizational information
- Participate in training sessions, team meetings, and professional development opportunities
- Perform other administrative and HR support duties as assigned
Qualifications
No prior healthcare or office experience is required. Training and mentorship will be provided throughout the internship.
- High school diploma, GED, or currently enrolled in a high school, college, or vocational program
- Interest in human resources, business administration, healthcare administration, or nonprofit operations
- Basic computer and keyboarding skills
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn
- Ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality
- Dependable attendance and ability to work in a team environment
- Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions
