We provide immersive hands-on training within the agency, ensuring practical experience alongside real-world application. Complementing this, our extensive library of online video courses offers flexible learning opportunities covering key insurance concepts and industry best practices.

Mentorship is a cornerstone of our program, with guidance provided by both our office manager and seasoned agents. This dual mentorship model helps interns develop not only technical expertise but also essential soft skills.

Our program’s primary goals focus on empowering interns to build strong communication skills, demonstrate professionalism, and gain the confidence needed to succeed in sales. At Connie Mortensen State Farm, we are dedicated to cultivating the next generation of insurance professionals through a well-rounded and engaging learning experience.

Sales & Client Interaction

  1. Support agents during client interactions by using agency-approved scripts/processes to assist with scheduling, gathering required information, and handling basic follow-up tasks under supervision.
  2. Prepare sales/appointment materials by creating or updating basic outreach and client-ready documents using agency templates and meeting quality/format standards.
  3. Explain the agency sales process by summarizing the end-to-end workflow (lead → appointment/discovery → proposal/follow-up → close) and identifying the intern’s role at each step.

Social Media & Community Engagement

  1. Create engaging social media content by drafting posts that promote agency services, events, and educational resources while following brand voice and platform best practices.
  2. Use calls-to-action and engagement tactics (e.g., event tags, hashtags, captions, questions/polls) to encourage community interaction and report on basic content performance (views/likes/comments).

Marketing Support & Vendor Collaboration

  1. Assist with campaign planning and content scheduling by contributing to a content calendar, meeting deadlines, and organizing assets for review and approval.
  2. Review marketing materials for brand consistency by checking posts/emails/flyers for correct messaging, formatting, and compliance per agency guidelines before submission.
  3. Participate in vendor marketing review meetings by taking notes, asking at least 1–2 relevant questions, and providing constructive feedback aligned to agency goals.

Administrative Operations

  1. Complete core administrative duties accurately (data entry, filing, answering phones, scheduling appointments, maintaining client records) while following privacy and documentation standards.
  2. Maintain organized client/office records by using the agency’s systems (CRM/shared drives/spreadsheets) to ensure records are complete, searchable, and up to date.

Insurance & Customer Service Learning

  1. Learn agency workflows and customer service best practices by completing assigned training and demonstrating the workflows through supervised tasks (e.g., intake, scheduling, follow-up).
  2. Build foundational product knowledge by summarizing key insurance product basics relevant to client conversations (e.g., what questions to ask, how to route inquiries), without providing unsupervised advice.
