Description

Founded in 1970, with the mission of ending pet overpopulation, Hendricks County Humane Society Ark, Inc. aka Hendricks Humane is a not-for-profit 501(c)-3, volunteer-driven organization governed by a volunteer Board of Directors. The programs are funded by public donations, fundraisers and grants.


HCHS is currently offering an unpaid summer internship opportunity in marketing and public relations for a high school junior, senior, or recent graduate. The internship duration is June 1 – July 31, 2026, and will include a remote and in-office 15-20 hours/week work schedule.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include designing and producing effective print materials (brochures, tear-offs, flyers, single sheets, etc.) that clearly communicate the mission and offerings of Hendricks Humane Society and its programs, as well as creating a targeted plan for distribution to target audiences; responsible for the creative process from initiation to completion, incorporating HCHS brand, identifying audience, and targeting delivery.


Will be required to attend weekly office activities and meetings. Must supply own transportation, laptop and cell phone. Other projects dependent upon skills and availability of chosen candidate.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  1. Ability to work independently, manage time; demonstrate initiative and prioritize multiple projects
  2. Ability to collaborate with a diverse population of volunteers and community members
  3. Organizational skills and attention to detail
  4. Ability to express creative ideas, both verbally and written
  5. Competence and experience using social media, Microsoft Office (Excel, Word)


Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Experience with CANVA publishing application
  2. A love of animals and commitment to the mission and vision of HCHS
