Description
The Office of Mentoring Services & Leadership Development (MSLD) serves as a go-to resource for undergraduate students seeking personal encouragement, career support, leadership development, academic advice, and more at Indiana University Bloomington. MSLD includes the Faculty and Staff for Student Excellence (FASE) Mentoring Program, a peer-to-peer mentoring program that partners first-year and transfer students with upperclass trained peer mentors to provide guidance and support. IU’s Office of Student Life administers MSLD to support all IUB students throughout their academic journey and beyond.
The Program Outreach Support Leader (POSL) will provide logistical and programmatic support for MSLD. They will manage visual and digital communications for MSLD and FASE. This includes social media, promotional materials, event platforms, and maintaining professional branding consistent with MSLD and IU guidelines.
The POSL will report to the MSLD Administrative Coordinator. Guidance and training will also be provided by the MSLD Executive Director, FASE Peer Mentors, and other MSLD team members. Additionally, the POSL will engage with faculty and other professional staff members who will assist with training.

Responsibilities
Technical/functional duties
- Create marketing materials for MSLD and FASE events throughout the year, including digital ads, social media posts, and physical flyers and signs, that are aligned with IU branding standards and MSLD program goals
- Develop and maintain technology tools applicable to the position, such as Canvas and GroupMe (for FASE Peer Mentor communication)
- Development and maintain social media and marketing tools applicable to the position, such as LinkedIn, Instagram, beINvolved, Canva, Adobe Creative Cloud applications, and Microsoft Office applications
- Meet with MSLD Administrative Coordinator on a recurring basis
- Attend required FASE events for marketing purposes
- Participate in two performance/learning reviews per academic year with FASE Administrative Coordinator (one per semester)
Interpersonal duties
- Critically reflect and evaluate program events and initiatives through marketing, branding, and awareness lenses
- Develop and expand MSLD and FASE branding and awareness campus-wide through effective and concise communication, marketing strategies, and social media campaigns based on critical reflections and evaluations
- Display integrative learning with technology skills
- Demonstrate high professional standards while attending MSLD and FASE events and programming
- Support and respect MSLD staff and mentors, incorporating suggestions and feedback in a collaborative manner
- Engage critically with performance reviews, including position feedback from FASE Administrative Coordinator and self-evaluation of leadership development and learning outcome progress
Qualifications
Minimum education:
- Currently enrolled as an undergraduate student at Indiana University as a sophomore or above in class standing
- Must have 2.5 GPA
Minimum requirements
- Must be an Indiana resident
- Must NOT have federal work-study qualification
Required knowledge, skills,and abilities:
- Possess strong problem solving and decision-making skills
- Experience with program development, planning, and execution
- Experience with social media and marketing strategies
