GENERAL FUNCTION:

Indiana Wish is dedicated to granting wishes to children ages 3 - 18 in Indiana who have been diagnosed with life-threatening illnesses. Since its inception in 1984, over 3,600 wishes have been granted. Our team includes an Executive Director, a Wish Coordinator, a Development Director, and a Strategic Engagement and Events Coordinator. Wishes have been granted in 88 Indiana counties.


The Special Projects Intern will collaborate with the Indiana Wish team, specifically the Strategic Engagement and Events Coordinator and Development Director, to expand the organization's pipeline of donors and supporters and assist with various projects.


Internship Overview: Indiana Wish seeks motivated, enthusiastic interns to join our team. This internship offers hands-on experience in non-profit development, special events, and marketing. The intern will work closely with our staff to support our mission and gain valuable skills in the non-profit sector.


Responsibilities


Event and Fundraising Support:

  1. Assist with preparations for Indiana Wish fundraising events, including Portrait of Wishes, Bourbon, Bling & Bowties, and Christmas in the Kitchen
  2. Support silent auction procurement efforts, including tracking donations and organizing auction packages
  3. Assist with silent auction setup, management, and wrap-up activities
  4. Coordinate and communicate with event volunteers before and during events
  5. Provide on-site event support as needed


Beyond the Wish:

  1. Assist with the administration of Indiana Wish's Beyond the Wish program
  2. Take meeting notes for Beyond The Wish Committee Meetings

Qualifications

REQUIRED EDUCATION:

  1. High School Graduate; currently working towards an undergraduate or graduate degree.
  2. Preferable university major in not-for-profit management, philanthropic studies, marketing, business, or related fields.
  3. Excellent written, organizational, and communication skills.
  4. Proficient in online research skills.
  5. Ability to present yourself professionally.
  6. Flexible weekday hours may require minimum night and weekend hours for events, if interested.


PREREQUISITE SKILLS:

  1. Enjoy working on the phone.
  2. Passion for helping others and the non-profit community.
  3. Ability to effectively provide customer service to all donors and contacts.
  4. Ability to communicate openly, honestly, directly, and effectively with all staff through written and verbal skills.
  5. Understanding/experience with computers, including recent versions of Microsoft Office, Google Docs, and Zoom Meetings.
  6. Possible lifting of boxes and moving of equipment for special events.
  7. Background Checks will be required and paid for by Indiana Wish.
