Learning Objectives
Learning objectives for this internship include developing a strong understanding of ABA principles and ethics while learning to implement therapy through child-led, play-based approaches. Interns will build skills in pairing, using natural environment teaching, and embedding learning opportunities within engaging play while maintaining client motivation and dignity. They will learn to accurately collect and record data, follow behavior intervention plans, and apply prompting, reinforcement, and behavior reduction strategies. Interns are also expected to support communication and social skill development, respond to individual and cultural needs, collaborate with supervisors and team members, accept feedback, and gradually increase independence in leading structured yet flexible play-based therapy sessions.
