Video Production Intern
Description
Captivated Content is a video marketing and production company based in Poseyville, Indiana. We create strategic video content for businesses, nonprofits, and organizations throughout the Evansville Tri-State area and beyond. Our work includes brand videos, employee spotlights, recruitment and culture videos, social media content, client testimonials, event coverage, and ongoing monthly video content for businesses.
Our Video Production Internship is designed to give a student real-world experience in both filming and editing while helping them understand the full video production process from start to finish. The learner will work both in our office at 14 N. Cale St. in Poseyville, Indiana, and at client locations throughout the Evansville Tri-State area, with the potential to assist on select projects outside the local area.
The intern will receive direct supervision, training, and mentorship from the Captivated Content team, including the company owner, lead videographer/editor, and operations coordinator. They will be guided through our production workflow, including pre-production planning, equipment preparation, filming, footage backup, organization, editing, client revisions, and final delivery. The learner will not be expected to manage client projects independently without support. Instead, they will assist team members, observe professional production practices, and gradually take on more responsibility as their skills grow.
Training will include hands-on experience with professional camera equipment, audio gear, lighting, tripods, editing software, file organization systems, and storytelling techniques. The intern will also learn how to prepare for filming days, assist on set, capture behind-the-scenes content, transcribe interviews, organize footage, create first drafts, and edit short-form and long-form video content for clients and internal marketing. When appropriate, the intern may also attend networking events or client meetings to gain a broader understanding of the business side of video production.
Mentorship will focus not only on technical video skills, but also on professionalism, communication, creative problem-solving, time management, client service, and understanding how video fits into a larger marketing strategy. Our goal is to help the learner become a more well-rounded video creator who can plan, shoot, edit, and contribute to real projects that are seen by real audiences.
The learning goals for the intern include:
Develop a stronger understanding of the full video production process, from planning to final delivery.
Improve technical skills in camera operation, lighting, audio, editing, and media organization.
Learn how to tell better stories through interviews, b-roll, pacing, music, and editing structure.
Gain experience working on professional client projects in a real business environment.
Build confidence assisting on set and contributing to post-production workflows.
Strengthen communication, teamwork, and professional workplace habits.
Create portfolio-worthy work that supports the learner’s future career in video production or digital media.
Our long-term goal with this position is to identify and train the right intern who could potentially grow into a future full-time video production team member at Captivated Content.
Responsibilities
The Video Production Intern will assist with real video production projects while learning the full process of creating professional video content for businesses, nonprofits, and internal Captivated Content marketing. The learner’s responsibilities will be focused primarily on hands-on production, post-production, creative development, and skill-building opportunities.
Responsibilities may include:
Assisting with video shoots at Captivated Content’s office and at client locations throughout the Evansville Tri-State area.
Helping prepare camera, audio, and lighting equipment before filming days.
Assisting with camera setup, lighting setup, audio setup, b-roll capture, photography, and behind-the-scenes content during shoots.
Learning how to safely and properly use professional video equipment, including cameras, microphones, tripods, light stands, LED panels, and other production gear.
Backing up, labeling, and organizing footage using Captivated Content’s established media management system.
Reviewing and organizing interview footage, b-roll, and audio files to prepare projects for editing.
Creating interview transcripts and identifying strong soundbites that could be used in client videos.
Assisting with first-draft edits for employee spotlights, recruiting videos, testimonial videos, social media clips, and internal marketing content.
Editing short-form video content for platforms such as Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok.
Learning Captivated Content’s editing style, storytelling approach, pacing, music selection, and brand standards for different clients.
Participating in internal creative discussions about video concepts, shot lists, interview questions, and content ideas.
Observing and, when appropriate, attending client meetings, networking events, or planning conversations to better understand the business and marketing side of video production.
Helping create internal marketing content for Captivated Content, including behind-the-scenes videos, social media clips, and promotional content.
Receiving feedback on edits and using that feedback to revise and improve video projects.
Building portfolio-worthy examples of work while gaining experience in a professional video production environment.
Administrative duties will be limited and directly related to the production learning experience. These may include organizing footage, preparing gear, logging files, or helping maintain production-related systems. The majority of the intern’s time will be spent on video production, editing, creative development, and hands-on learning opportunities rather than general office or clerical work.
