Description
Tea’s Me Cafe is looking for a motivated individual to be a supportive member of our staff and help build our Special Events/ Event Management team. This intern will plan and execute internal promotions and campus-facing activations that drive foot traffic and brand engagement. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in creative planning, event logistics, and community engagement.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the development and execution of events that promote the safety and experience of guests
- Assist with day-to-day administrative and event operations (will learn how to work front & back of house at Tea’s Me)
- Logistics: assist with the physical setup/breakdown of equipment, distributing uniforms, radios, event day paperwork, and other equipment as needed
- Fulfill administrative duties such as data entry, correspondence, facilitating meetings, procurement and care of operational supplies, general communication with staff, and other office and event responsibilities as necessary
- Assist in the workforce management of Tea’s Me Event Staff, including but not limited to recruiting, hiring, scheduling, database management and on-site supervision
- Interacts with employees and clients in a professional manner
- Perform various other duties as may be assigned by any of the Tea’s Me Cafe Managers
- Develop monthly promotion calendars in sync with Tea’s Me campaigns
- Design flyers, signs, and QR codes for promotions and giveaways
- Collaborate with Social Media Intern on event promotion and post-coverage
Qualifications
- Energetic, detail-oriented, and loves community interaction
- Able to coordinate multiple moving parts and meet deadlines
- Excellent customer service skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment as well as on an individual basis as situation dictates
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced events environment
- Effective time management skills
- Effective verbal, written and interpersonal communications.
- Ability to assist in event set-up and breakdown which may require frequent lifting and/or carrying up to 50 pounds maximum
- Ability to maintain confidential and/or proprietary information
Learning Objectives
By the completion of the internship, the Events & Community Engagement Intern will be able to:
- Plan, coordinate, and execute community events from concept through post-event evaluation.
- Develop project timelines, checklists, budgets, and logistical plans for successful event execution.
- Demonstrate effective time management by managing multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
- Lead at least one event or community initiative from planning through implementation.
- Build confidence in decision-making, communication, and problem-solving in a professional setting.
- Develop leadership skills by facilitating meetings, collaborating with teammates, and taking ownership of assigned projects.
- Build and strengthen relationships with community partners, organizations, and event stakeholders.
- Understand the role of mission-driven businesses in creating positive community impact.
- Identify opportunities to expand Tea's Me's visibility and engagement within the community.
- Create professional communications for event promotion, outreach, and follow-up.
- Collaborate with the Marketing Fellow to support event campaigns across digital and in-person platforms.
- Practice public speaking and professional communication while representing Tea's Me at community events.
- Understand the financial and operational components of planning successful events, including budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation.
- Track attendance, participation, and event outcomes to evaluate success and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Use data and participant feedback to make recommendations for future programming.
- Demonstrate Tea's Me's commitment to exceptional hospitality by creating welcoming and engaging event experiences.
- Develop skills in conflict resolution, adaptability, and customer service during live events.
By the end of the internship, the Intern will have:
- Built a professional portfolio showcasing events, marketing materials, and project outcomes.
- Strengthened workplace competencies including professionalism, teamwork, communication, and initiative.
- Expanded their professional network through collaboration with community leaders, nonprofit organizations, and business partners.
- Developed transferable leadership skills applicable to careers in event management, nonprofit leadership, marketing, hospitality, and business management.
