Harrison County Community Services, Inc. (HCCS) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization located in Corydon, Indiana, dedicated to serving as a vital safety net for local residents. Established in 1976, HCCS works to help individuals, children, and families meet their basic needs and achieve long-term stability through direct support and community development programs. Key services include monthly food pantry distributions, mobile food pantries, emergency utility and eviction prevention assistance, and community meal programs operated in partnership with local partners.

Responsibilities

Client Engagement & Hospitality: Warmly greeting clients upon their arrival, assisting them with collecting their requested food items, and maintaining a welcoming, compassionate, and respectful environment.

Pantry Fulfillment: Selecting, organizing, and packing food items tailored to client needs and inventory guidelines.

Pantry Support & Restocking: Assisting with organizing, stocking, and maintaining food pantry shelves as needed.

Qualifications

Compassionate & Friendly Attitude: A welcoming disposition and enjoyment in interacting with diverse community members.

Physical Ability: Comfort with standing, walking, pushing a grocery cart, and lifting items weighing up to 15 lbs throughout the shift.

Reliability: Dependable attendance for scheduled 2 to 4 hour shifts.

1. Inventory & Stock Management: Gain practical knowledge in basic inventory control, including shelf restocking, product rotation, and organizing pantry items according to storage guidelines.
2. Fulfillment Operations: Learn efficient selection, packing, and quality-checking techniques to assemble complete food assistance orders accurately.

Non-Profit Operations & Professionalism

1. Understanding Community Food Systems: Acquire a foundational understanding of non-profit food pantry operations, local safety nets, and community distribution networks.
2. Workplace Dependability & Teamwork: Build essential professional habits, including time management, collaboration with team members, and adherence to health and safety protocols in a fulfillment setting.
