Internship Overview

Purple Ribbon Office Solutions LLC seeks college students interested in biometric technology, criminal justice, homeland security, transportation security, and identity verification.

This internship emphasizes hands-on fingerprinting skills through structured training, supervised technical practice, and participation in authorized live fingerprinting services. Interns will develop practical experience in fingerprint capture, image-quality assessment, identity verification, secure equipment use, and protection of biometric information.

Hands-On Learning — 80% of Internship Activities

Following successful completion of required background screening, training, and provider authorization, interns will:

  1. Practice correct finger placement, positioning, and capture techniques using the department’s fingerprinting equipment.
  2. Learn to recognize image-quality problems, troubleshoot capture difficulties, and perform recaptures under supervision.
  3. Conduct authorized live fingerprint capture under qualified supervision after demonstrating competency.
  4. Participate in approved fingerprinting workflows serving pre-employment screening and applicable homeland security and transportation-related programs, within the department’s authorized services.
  5. Apply identity-verification procedures and accurately associate fingerprint captures with the correct enrollment.
  6. Practice equipment preparation, cleaning, and routine readiness checks according to provider instructions.

  8. Complete a technical improvement project using mock or de-identified information, such as analyzing capture-quality issues and developing a supervisor-reviewed troubleshooting guide.

Administrative Support — No More Than 20%

Limited supporting duties may include appointment coordination, routine filing, and basic record organization. Administrative duties will remain below the program’s 25% maximum.

Background Screening and Credential Development

Selected interns must complete the employer-provided background screening process through IDEMIA and meet applicable provider requirements before accessing restricted systems or performing live fingerprinting.

Purple Ribbon Office Solutions LLC will support interns through the process of applying for their own Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC), subject to TSA eligibility and approval. TWIC issuance is determined by TSA. Authorization to perform fingerprinting is separately dependent on required training, competency, and provider approval.

Mentorship and Learning Outcomes

Interns will receive orientation, supervised technical instruction, regular feedback, and progressive responsibility based on demonstrated skills.

By completion, interns should be able to demonstrate accurate fingerprint capture techniques, evaluate image quality, troubleshoot common capture issues, follow identity-verification and biometric security procedures, and communicate professionally with clients.

Qualifications

Applicants should be enrolled in college and demonstrate attention to detail, reliability, basic computer proficiency, respect for confidentiality, and willingness to complete required screening and training.
