Self-Care for the end of the Semester

Right now, life is basically the prime example of ā€œtoo much to do and not enough time to do it.ā€ Classes are getting ready for finals, projects are due, and life has to fit somewhere in there. Not to make this all about me, but Iā€™m working a job on-campus, interning downtown, taking 18 credit hours, and planning a whole university formal, so things are pretty tough right now. I know I canā€™t be the only one dealing with a lot, so I came up with a list of things to do that help me relax or calm down when Iā€™m stressed. I should mention that these are things most people donā€™t think of or at least talk about so you can get some new self-care tips!

Self-Care is in the Air

At this point in the year, life can start to feel hectic. Class work and projects are starting to pile on. Internships are starting to really pick up. And to top it all off, the holidays are approaching! That means plenty of gatherings for family and friends, gift giving, finding the perfect Halloween costume and more.

While all this is going on, it can be easy to forget about the most important personā€¦YOU! So, to help you relax as you ease into fall, I made a list of helpful self-care tips.

Make sure to aside some time for yourself

Find some time, even if itā€™s only five minutes, in your busy schedule each day to focus on yourself. During that time, make sure that you are only doing things that bring you happiness. This mini-timeout can allow you to regroup and recharge before bouncing right back in to getting …

Relax During Winter Break

As final papers, projects, exams and fall internships come to an end, students are left feeling an odd combination of relief and exhaustion. Take time during winter break to relax and decompress. Hereā€™s a list of some soothing activities to leave you feeling recharged and ready for the spring semester:

1. Catch up with family and friends
If you go back to your hometown during winter break, plan an activity to catch up with old friends. Spend time baking with your grandparents, or catch a movie with your siblings. It can be difficult to coordinate plans between breaks, so savor the time you have at home.

2. Read a book
Find a cozy spot, grab some hot cocoa and read something that isnā€™t required for class. The New York Times compiled a list of the top 10 books from 2016
