Description
The Development Intern focuses on assisting in all aspects of the development process. The Development Intern will serve as a support resource in the multifamily development process from site identification and land contract execution to turnover to property management.
Responsibilities
Major Objectives:
- Track a working list of development tasks and efficiently work them to completion.
- Research topics and summarize findings as they relate to specific project needs.
- Learn about the process of development and be assisgned tasks that could involve procurement, selection, design management, risk assessment, contract and schedule management.
- Be a problem solver. As a member of the Development team of The Garrett Companies, we solve problems.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities:
- Learn and understand industry specific terms.
- Work in unison with other departments to communicate and gather appropriate information.
- Assist Development team members in specific tasks related to the development process and construction handoff.
Qualifications
Required Skills:
- Strong excel skills and related macro programming, power point, web search engines.
- Strong written and verbal skills.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and for multiple projects.
- Ability to work independently and with team of professionals as needed.
Required Education:
- Currently enrolled in Bachelor's or Master’s degree in real estate, architecture, engineering, business, urban planning or some other relevant field.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Must be an excellent verbal and written communicator.
- Skills and experience with marketing, public speaking, and presentations is a plus.

- Must understand the difference between causation and correlation.
