Description

The Accounting Internship focuses on analyzing actual financial data for corporate, development, construction, and property management activities and assisting in a range of accounting functions. This position will be immersed in accounting software, policies, and procedures. Our primary needs for an Accounting Intern is to assist and provide support with the functions of audited loan draws, invoices, and to assist in identifying opportunities to increase efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Data entry via the software systems that the accounting team at The Garrett Companies utilizes.
• Reconcile company credit cards.
• Assisting with audits.
• Assisting with setting up new vendors within company software systems.
• Supporting CFO and accounting team members.
• Monitoring and updating various spreadsheets – specifically those related to high-risk vendors.
• Assisting with collecting project documents such as waivers, updated insurance information, and revised paperwork from subcontractors.

• Assessing financial reports (including but not limited to balance sheets and income statements, invoices, and other such documents).
• Analyzing data.
• Gathering information.
• Interacting with and collecting data from appropriate people as well as large databases of information.
• Assisting in determining the potential profit and risk for new developments.
• To depart the program with a comprehensive understanding of how an accounting department functions within a private real estate company.

Qualifications

• Strong Microsoft Office skills.
• Strong written and verbal skills.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks and multiple projects.
• Ability to work independently as well as with a team of professionals.
• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master’s degree in accounting, statistics, finance, or some other relevant field.
• Must have a current GPA of 3.0 or above.
• Skills and experience with marketing, public speaking, and presentations are a plus.
• Positive attitude.
• Relentless problem-solving skills.
