Description

First Financial Bank is a community-focused financial institution with over 100 years of service across Indiana, Illinois, Kentucky, Tennessee, and Georgia. We’re proud of our mission to deliver personalized financial solutions while building lasting relationships with our customers and communities. At the heart of our culture is our OneFirst initiative, which focuses on embedding our core values—Soundness, Growth, Value, Solutions, Accountability, and Community—into everything we do, including how we develop future talent.

Our internship program is designed to offer real-world experience in a supportive and inclusive environment. Interns will have the opportunity to explore different areas of the bank, contribute to meaningful projects, and develop both professionally and personally. We view our interns not just as temporary team members, but as future leaders.

Supervision, Training, and Mentorship

Interns are supervised by a direct manager within their department, who provides clear expectations, regular check-ins, and ongoing feedback. In addition, they will be matched with a mentor—often a tenured associate or leader—who serves as a sounding board, helping them navigate the organization and reflect on their growth.

We also provide structured training throughout the internship. This includes onboarding, department-specific training, exposure to leadership panels, and professional development sessions. Interns will attend team meetings and be encouraged to contribute their perspectives, ask questions, and get involved.

Learning Goals for the Intern

Our goal is for each intern to walk away with:

A strong understanding of how a financial institution operates from the inside out

Improved communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills

Confidence in their ability to contribute to team and company goals

A clearer sense of their strengths, interests, and career possibilities

A network of professionals they can continue learning from beyond the internship

Responsibilities

Our IT intern will play a hands-on role in supporting our day-to-day technology needs while gaining meaningful experience that goes beyond typical admin work. Interns will assist with troubleshooting computer issues, setting up hardware like laptops and printers, managing user accounts in systems like Active Directory and Office 365, and helping with software installations and updates.

They’ll also have the chance to support ongoing IT projects such as system upgrades, hardware refreshes, or office tech setups. Documentation is another key area—interns will help improve our IT knowledge base and log solutions that help the team work smarter.

These responsibilities are designed to be engaging and developmental, giving interns exposure to real-world tasks while being supported by experienced professionals who want to see them grow

Qualifications

Our internship is designed with early-career talent in mind. We do not expect interns to come in with management experience or years of technical expertise. Instead, we look for curiosity, willingness to learn, and a foundational understanding of IT concepts.

The role is ideal for students currently pursuing a degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field. We focus on developing their skills through real-world experience, mentorship, and hands-on support in areas like troubleshooting, hardware setup, account management, and project assistance. Any previous experience—like a class project, certification, or basic tech support—is a bonus, not a requirement
