Description

Our organization, Public Health Connect, is dedicated to bridging students, professionals, and community organizations to work toward equitable public health outcomes. Our Digital Marketing & Brand Strategy Internship program provides interns with the opportunity to develop hands-on experience in the growing field of digital marketing, specifically within the nonprofit sector. Interns will work closely with our experienced team of professionals, including the Founder & Executive Director, to gain exposure to marketing strategies, social media campaigns, content creation, brand development, and digital analytics.

Interns will receive direct supervision and mentorship from the Director of Marketing and other senior staff members, ensuring that they not only contribute meaningfully to the projects but also gain valuable skills and insights into digital marketing and branding. They will participate in weekly one-on-one meetings for feedback, guidance, and career development. Additionally, interns will have access to group workshops, peer collaborations, and opportunities to present their work to the broader team.

Our goal for this internship is for interns to gain practical experience, build their digital marketing portfolio, and understand the role of marketing in advancing a mission-driven organization. By the end of the internship, the intern should be able to demonstrate proficiency in digital marketing strategies, tools, and analytics, as well as a deeper understanding of brand management in the nonprofit sector.

Responsibilities

The Digital Marketing & Brand Strategy Intern will assist in various projects related to digital marketing, social media content creation, and brand strategy. Some of the key tasks and projects include:

  • Assisting in the development and execution of social media campaigns across platforms (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, etc.).

  • Creating and scheduling social media posts to promote organizational initiatives and events.

  • Conducting market research to support brand positioning and strategy.

  • Collaborating with the team to design and implement digital marketing strategies for fundraising and outreach campaigns.

  • Analyzing digital marketing performance metrics to optimize campaign effectiveness.

  • Contributing to content creation for blogs, newsletters, and website updates.

  • Assisting in the development of promotional materials such as digital flyers, graphics, and video content.

  • Supporting the management and optimization of the organization’s website and email marketing.

Interns will be encouraged to take initiative and develop their own creative strategies while working alongside experienced team members. Administrative tasks will be limited to no more than 25% of the intern’s overall responsibilities.

Qualifications

We welcome interns who are eager to learn and develop in the field of digital marketing and brand strategy. While prior experience in digital marketing or brand strategy is not required, the following qualifications are preferred:

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Digital Media, or a related field.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Familiarity with social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, etc.).

  • Basic knowledge of design tools such as Canva or Adobe Creative Suite is a plus, but not required.

  • Interest in nonprofit organizations and community-driven impact.

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills.

This internship is designed for students or recent graduates who are eager to gain their first experience in the digital marketing and branding field. Interns will not be expected to have management experience or several years of industry experience, as the primary goal is to provide a learning environment and professional development opportunities.
