Description

The Landscape Architect Intern will work alongside our in-house Landscape Architect on a range of projects in multiple markets across the country. This intern will assist with schematic design, design development, construction documents and construction administration. The primary focused will be on multifamily development projects. 

Major Objectives: 

  • Research topics and summarize findings as they relate to specific project needs. 
  • Help with the production of graphic presentations, renderings, and construction drawings suitable for bidding and regulatory approvals and permits 
  • Research local zoning codes to help ensure designs are complete and fully prepared for permit / plan reviews 
  • Help prepare landscape and site feature design presentations. 
  • Coordinate with internal teams, consultants, contractors, fabricators, and regulatory agencies to meet overall project objectives 
  • Be a problem solver. As a member of the Development team of The Garrett Companies, we solve problems. 

 

Responsibilities

Specific Duties & Responsibilities: 

  • Assist our in-house Landscape Architect with specific tasks related to the development process and construction handoff. 

Qualifications

 

 Required Skills: 

  • Familiarity with AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite (Adobe Photoshop, Indesign and Acrobat), and Microsoft Suite. 
  • Excellent communication skills. 
  • Strong graphic design abilities. 
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and multiple projects. 
  • Ability to work independently and with a team of professionals as needed. 
  • Ability to take direction and a willingness to learn. 

Required Education: 

  • Rising junior or Master’s student pursuing a Landscape Architecture degree from an accredited university. 

Prerequisites (these are the most important items): 

  • Passion for design. 
  • Positive attitude. 
  • Extremely detail oriented. 
  • Relentless problem solving skills. 
  • Ability to anticipate. 
  • Must understand the difference between causation and correlation. 
  • Like our entire team, you must be a “broom pusher”. Every member of our team is willing to work and support at all levels, and we expect the same from our interns.
