For most people there is a clear picture of what comes to mind when hearing the word āintern.ā The scared, intimidated college student that brings coffee when needed, and stands by the copier making copies for everyone in the office. I thought the same thing for the longest time. Now I know there is so much more than just coffee and copies.
Internships give students an opportunity to get real life experience in a field they are interested in. internships allow for students to gain professional experience before they graduate from college and prepare them for when it is time to look for full-time employment.

Indiana INTERNnet is pleased to welcome Angela Taylor to our team as Program Assistant! She is responsible for the logistics of the IMPACT Awards, serves as liaison to the board of directors and committees, and produces communications.
Angela was born and raised on the west side of Indianapolis but currently resides in Irvington, a charming east side neighborhood. She received her bachelorās degree at Indiana University ā Indianapolis with a focus on tourism, conventions and events management. She started her career in the hospitality industry as an intern working at the Sheraton in Indianapolis. Once her internship was completed, she stayed working at the Sheraton through college and beyond.

I’m thankful that the Indiana INTERNnet team took a chance on me to be part of the team for the spring. Getting Into A Nine To Five Routine
With this being my first professional job, I have never had to experience the struggle that is the nine to five routine. It was an extremely hard task for the first couple of days. It took time getting used to waking up early and working all day. My past retail jobs offered me a few experiences of working an all-day shift, but it was never very consistent. I wanted to share some tips that I have come across when it comes to getting used to working a full day for the first time.

In June, interns from around the state attended Indiana INTERNnetās first engagement event of the summer. Interns came together at The Childrenās Museum of Indianapolis to network, explore, engage in a personal development seminar, and hear from a panel of past and present Childrenās Museum interns.
Panelists shared their stories, while attendees asked questions regarding career paths and entering the workforce.

One of my biggest takeaways was that itās okay to not know what you want to do. Taking everything one day at a time was a large focal point that the panelists hit on. They all spoke of their past experiences and how they got to where they are today.
