New Web Site Features Provide Convenience and Encourage Connections

There is much more to the updated IndianaINTERN.net (IIN) than meets the eye! Along with a fresh new look, we’ve added multiple features to the site to enhance the experience for students, employers and educators. These additions make it easier for students and employers to connect.

New features include:

  • In-Site Messaging

This new feature allows employers to conveniently message students without ever leaving the site. IIN’s in-site messaging also makes it easy for employers to recruit applicants. Registered employers can search for interns by keyword, school, major, location and more. After finding students who fulfill the internship’s needs, employers can send those students a message inviting them to apply.

For example, an employer with a marketing internship in Indianapolis could search for students on the web site who are marketing majors and live in Marion County. Then, they’re able to view the students’ profiles and resumes, and send more information about their internship to any who may be a good fit. Students can respond, and both the employer and student will receive an email notification alerting them whenever they receive a message.

  • Text Message Alerts

When students save an internship search on IIN and opt in to receive text messages, they’re able to receive daily text alerts about new positions that are posted within that search. The text messages will contain a link that will take students to their IIN profile. With our fully mobile-optimized site, they are able to search and apply to internships on their phone immediately after receiving the text.

  • Email Alerts

Similar to text alerts, students will receive a daily email when new positions are posted within one of their saved searches. However, unlike texts, employers and educators can receive these alerts as well. Educators can easily keep track of specific internships to share with their students.

  • Uploading Multiple Resumes

When students apply for internships, they now have the option to upload a unique resume for the position to which they are applying. Students can select a general resume for their profile that will be visible to registered employers on the site and upload unique resumes to internship applications. This will make it easy for students to tailor their resumes to various internships.

Along with these additional features, IIN continues to facilitate the EARN Indiana program in partnership with the Indiana Commission for Higher Education. EARN Indiana allows employers to receive state matching funds – up to 50% of the student’s hourly wage.

Also, when an internship is posted on our site, it’s shared with IIN’s growing network of partner Indiana colleges and universities. This will broaden employers’ applicant pools and increase the visibility of internship postings.
