4 Tips to Conquer College Senioritis

College senioritis is different from high school senioritis.

At its very core you might be thinking, “well aren’t they the same thing?” and in many ways, you’re right. By this point in your academic career it’s your fourth year at yet another institution and you’re probably tired. Don’t get me wrong, though, college is still a very exciting place. The social aspect is finally comfortable, you have your friends and social circles set in stone. However, the coursework is a different story. It’s become repetitive and tedious in some ways. And since you’re so close to finally getting out into the world and starting your career you have to plan for that, too.

It might seem like a good idea to push aside all your responsibilities until they start to catch up with you because it is just so overwhelming to think about, right?

Wrong. Senioritis can cost you if you fall far behind. And what’s that worth after all these successful years as an undergrad? If you think that you have been struggling with senioritis this semester, you’ve come to the right place. Here are my 4 steps to conquer college senioritis:

Get organized, and stay organized!

Getting organized doesn’t just mean your physical space (although, that’s helpful too), it means priorities. When you know what you prioritize most to least, it’s easy to organize your life around that.

Take care of yourself

Personal health is important. To ensure that you are preforming your best when you set foot out into the world, always make sure to set aside a “self-love” day and check in with you. Mental and physical health are equally important.

Don’t limit yourself

Just because you always dreamed of living in New York City doesn’t mean that’s what you have to do. Take time to explore the opportunities available around and far away from your dream home – you never know what you might find.

Be your own motivator

Self-motivation is a skill at the center of adulting. The best way to stay motivated is to make sure you’re doing something that brings you joy. So, if you’re involved in different organizations on campus, keep that up! If there’s a creative project you want to immerse yourself in, do that! Take advantage of this last semester of school while you have your university’s resources at your fingertips – you won’t regret it.
