Organization for Your Peace of Mind

It’s easy to neglect staying organized and planning ahead. The last thing you want to do when you’re busy is take time out of your day to make sure everything is in order. But organization truly helps your life go more smoothly, and investing a little bit of time now will make a big impact later.

Planners are Our Friends

Plan your day, plan your week, plan your life, the future you will thank you. I like the physical act of writing a to-do list and there’s something really satisfying about checking off tasks on your list.

It doesn’t have to be expensive either. You can go the traditional route and get a cheap planner. There are also tons of free printables and templates to create your own DIY planner. You could even get creative and design your planner using a blank notebook or journal, markers and colorful pens.

There is also the digital planner route. You could use the calendar and the reminder feature on your phone to stay organized. Though I use a planner, I am a hybrid user. So, I also use the Outlook calendar on my laptop to stay on track with everything coming up.

Plan Your Outfits for the Week

Planning all your outfits for the week may seem a bit overzealous. However, think about how much smoother your morning will go when you don’t have to worry about what to wear.

In order to plan your outfits for the week, it’s important to look ahead at your week. In other words, make sure you are properly dressed for any meeting or event. This will include wearing comfortable shoes if you’ll be on your feet all day. For example, you wouldn’t want to wear a silk shirt or tie on a rainy day or a day that you’ll be sweating more than usual. You don’t want it to show and be caught trying to dry the sweat from your shirt, under the hand dryer in the restroom.

Properly planning your outfits not only allows you to take a glance at everything coming up for the week. But planning ahead also gives you the opportunity to have all the tools you’ll require in order to have a successful week. Whether you need to plan for an after-work date night or for a stormy commute home, you’ll be ready for whatever comes your way.

Everything Lives Happily in Its Home

Channel your inner Marie Kondo and go through your items, figuring out what to keep, donate, sell, or give away. Make piles of your items that you want to keep and get rid of. This will help you declutter your living space to make sure you only have the things you actively use.

Find designated homes for all your items to live. Fight the urge to not put things back where they’re supposed to go. Putting items away will help keep your living space tidy and make it easy to find what you’re looking for. Furthermore, 20 minutes of daily maintenance will ensure you stay up to date with keeping everything tidy.

Organization may seem like a hassle sometimes, but it impacts all areas of your life. If you don’t organize and plan ahead, it can hurt your performance at school or at work, and make you feel more stressed. Committing a few moments a day to organization helps everything run much more smoothly. Your future self will thank you!
