The Dometic Internship Program is a professional learning experience that offers meaningful, practical work related to a student’s field of study or career interest. Our program gives students the opportunity to collaborate with team members, to have a meaningful project that allows you to have impact, career exploration and development, to learn new skills, and get to know other interns. Each intern is assigned a mentor and be provided with opportunities to interact with other interns throughout the summer.

Position Overview:

Our Elkhart, IN facility is looking for a motivated and talented individual to join our Sourcing team as part of the 2023 Internship Program. As a Sourcing Intern you will be able to apply academy-based knowledge to projects, develop essential skills and obtain real-world experience needed to be career ready. You will be working closely with a Sourcing manager who will provide you with real hands-on projects and daily tasks, to help further develop your negotiation skills and gain experience with the Sourcing process.

Deliverables:

  • Cost savings ($15K cost reduction target/goal)
  • Supplier base reduction
  • Develop project plan and meet timelines
  • Help make a sourcing process improvement

Responsibilities

  • Understand the Strategic Sourcing process within Dometic
  • Lead data gathering and analysis process to leverage process improvements
  • Collaborate with Sourcing managers to drive Cost reduction opportunities, Supply base consolidation, Supply Agreements and Code of Conduct compliance, among others
  • Interact with cross-functional teams to think broadly about solutions to drive standardization and continuous improvement of sourcing processes across Dometic North American plants
  • Support RFQ process execution, negotiation, and vendors selection that will meet Global Sourcing strategy and Dometic’s Quality, Technology, and Cost standards
  • Collaborate with Sourcing managers and cross-functional teams on matters related to day-to-day supply, quality, engineering changes, supplier resourcing, capacity planning and system updates
  • Lead a Cost Reduction Project in support of the Sourcing team for the Metal Category (“C” commodities) and provide presentation at the conclusion of the Internship Program explaining the value brought to the company by successfully completing the project

Qualifications

  • Must be enrolled in a degree program at the time of the internship, preferably in Business, Supply Chain, or Engineering
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills  
  • Strong interpersonal skills, willing to work with others and obtain cooperation
  • Quick learner, detail-oriented and organized
  • Proficient computer skills are a must with proficiency in Excel (pivot table, formulas, reports, etc.)
  • Fluent in English
