Hi everyone! My name is Brittney Horn and I will be submitting blog posts this semester detailing my experience of being an intern! I am currently interning with the Greater Lafayette Commerce in Lafayette, Indiana. My title is “Membership Intern” but I’m pretty much the “Do whatever is thrown to me intern” and I love it. Let’s rewind a little here though and give you a little background information about me.

I graduated from Purdue University this past May with a degree in Public Relations & Rhetorical Advocacy. I completed two internships during school while also living in a cooperative house and taking on leadership positions during my 3 1/5 years at Purdue (I first went to Indiana University).  These experiences led me to Vail, Colorado for this past summer working with a vacation rental company as their Public Relations Intern. Once the summer was coming to a close, I was on the hunt for a job. With this economy, it’s still difficult to get a job even with all of these internships, so I started applying for more internships. I found out about the internship with the Greater Lafayette Commerce from an e-mail from a previous organization I had been a part of (p.s. it is SUPER important to be a part of any sort of organizations where you can participate and take on leadership roles…that’s basically how I got any of my internships!). I applied, got called the next day, and got the position the same day as my interview!

So there’s a little bit about me. I can’t wait to blog more about my internship and any advice I have for all you internees out there!
