Legendary Intern’s Last Day, New Gig

Indiana INTERNnet intern on her final day

The first time I walked through the office doors, I didn’t notice much about my surroundings. Like any new grad, I was headed for an interview and my focus was directed at the person I was about to shake hands with and the questions they had in store for me.

This morning, the elevator carried me to a positive and supportive work environment, to people I have come to respect and admire. Ten months after that first meeting, the interviewer is now my mentor, and the questions made room for new ones. My view of the office is still narrow this time around as the superimposed emotional and psychological lens tries to concentrate on the people and the memories that remain.

I know. This sounds too reflective, too nostalgic. This is exactly the state I find myself in on the last day of my internship. The projects are all wrapped up. The folders are all organized. The desk is all cleared. It’s the season for a new intern to take the seat – a fresh set of eyes and a sharp mind to learn and grow like I did.

What’s left for me to say? Thank you doesn’t quite express my gratitude for the chances to explore marketing and social media. With the encouragement of the Indiana INTERNnet (IIN) staff, I confidently take a step forward toward my career as the Internet Marketing Specialist for Flint Analytics.

As you can see, this internship has been more than a mere success. It has been a life changer. From writing fun blog posts such as 5 Steps to a Legendary Internship to being featured on the cover of GRAD Magazine to managing social media accounts, my internship with IIN has been a welcomed challenge and a rewarding experience.

Don’t worry. There won’t be a shortage of witty blog posts by IIN’s intern. My sources tell me you’re in good hands.
