Description
King’s Play Cafe is a family-friendly entertainment and play center dedicated to creating a safe, welcoming, and engaging environment for children and families. Our work-based learning program gives the learner hands-on experience in a customer-focused business environment, with opportunities to support marketing and sales efforts, community engagement, and day-to-day business operations. The learner will receive direct supervision, training, and mentorship from the owner/manager and designated staff members, who will provide guidance on professional communication, customer service, promotional planning, sales support, and how to represent the business effectively. Through this internship, the learner will build skills in marketing, sales, communication, teamwork, organization, time management, and problem-solving while gaining a better understanding of business operations and workplace expectations.
Responsibilities
King’s Play Cafe’s Marketing & Sales intern will support promotional and outreach projects that help increase awareness, engagement, and customer interest. Responsibilities may include assisting with social media content ideas, drafting promotional captions, organizing marketing materials, helping track community events and outreach opportunities, researching local businesses and organizations for partnership opportunities, assisting with basic sales follow-up for party bookings or special events, and supporting the creation of flyers, posts, and other marketing content. The learner may also help observe customer trends, gather feedback, and contribute ideas for improving promotions and guest engagement. These responsibilities will focus on learning and project support rather than routine employee duties.
Qualifications
King’s Play Cafe’s Marketing & Sales intern should be a motivated, dependable student with strong communication skills, a positive attitude, and an interest in marketing, sales, customer service, or business operations. The learner should be comfortable working with others, taking direction, and learning new tasks in a professional environment. Basic computer skills, creativity, organization, and the ability to communicate clearly in person and in writing are preferred. Prior experience is not required, as this internship is designed to provide introductory, hands-on learning opportunities.
Learning Objectives
The learner will gain an understanding of basic marketing and sales practices in a customer-focused business environment. Learning objectives include developing communication and professional workplace skills, learning how to create and support promotional content, understanding how marketing helps attract and retain customers, gaining experience with community outreach and event promotion, and building confidence in teamwork, organization, and problem-solving. The learner will also learn how to support sales-related activities such as party bookings and special event follow-up while observing how business goals are supported through marketing efforts.
