King’s Play Cafe is a family-friendly entertainment and play center that provides a safe, welcoming environment where children and families can learn, play, and connect. Our work-based learning program gives the learner hands-on experience supporting daily activities and guest experiences in a professional setting. The learner will receive direct supervision, training, and mentorship from the owner/manager and designated staff members, who will provide guidance on customer service, communication, activity setup, safety procedures, teamwork, and workplace expectations. Learning goals for the learner include developing communication, organization, teamwork, problem-solving, time management, and customer service skills, while gaining a better understanding of how a family entertainment business operates and supports a positive guest experience.

Responsibilities

King’s Play Cafe’s Activity Assistant intern will support hands-on guest experience and activity-based projects that help create a fun and engaging environment for children and families. Responsibilities may include helping set up and organize activities, preparing materials for play or special events, assisting with activity instruction under supervision, supporting guest engagement during scheduled activities, helping reset and clean activity areas, and observing how activities are led safely and effectively. The learner may also assist with gathering feedback, making simple recommendations for improving activities, and supporting special themed events or seasonal programs. These responsibilities are designed to provide learning-based experience rather than routine employee duties.

Qualifications

King’s Play Cafe’s Activity Assistant intern should be a dependable, enthusiastic student with a positive attitude and an interest in working with children, families, or recreational activities. The learner should be comfortable following directions, working as part of a team, and engaging in a customer-focused environment. Strong communication skills, creativity, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn are preferred. No prior experience is required, as this internship is designed to provide introductory, hands-on learning.

Learning Objectives

The learner will develop a foundational understanding of how activity-based guest experiences are planned and delivered in a family entertainment environment. Learning objectives include building skills in communication, teamwork, organization, customer service, problem-solving, and time management. The learner will gain hands-on experience assisting with activity setup, guest engagement, cleanup, and basic activity coordination while learning how to support a positive and safe experience for children and families. The learner will also develop confidence in following directions, working with a team, and contributing to a fun and professional workplace environment.
