Description

King’s Play Cafe is a family-friendly entertainment and play center that creates fun, safe, and memorable experiences for children and families. Our work-based learning program gives the learner the opportunity to gain real-world experience in event coordination and sales by supporting party planning, customer communication, and event preparation in a professional setting. The learner will receive direct supervision and mentorship from the owner/manager and designated staff members, who will provide training on customer service, event planning, sales processes, communication, and business operations. The learner will also receive guidance on how to manage inquiries, support event details, and represent the business professionally. Learning goals for the learner include building skills in communication, organization, teamwork, customer service, problem-solving, time management, and sales, while gaining a better understanding of how events are planned and executed in a customer-focused business.

Responsibilities

King’s Play Cafe’s Event Coordinator & Sales intern will assist with planning and supporting party and special event experiences for guests. Responsibilities may include helping organize event details, preparing party materials, assisting with guest communication, supporting reservation follow-up, tracking event inquiries, and helping coordinate timing and logistics for upcoming bookings. The learner may also help gather information needed for event packages, assist with sales follow-up for parties and group events, and support the creation of event-related materials such as checklists or prep notes. These responsibilities will focus on learning and project support rather than routine employee duties.

Qualifications

King’s Play Cafe’s Event Coordinator & Sales intern should be a motivated, dependable student with strong communication, organization, and customer service skills. The learner should be comfortable working with others, following instructions, and learning how to support event planning and sales tasks in a professional setting. Basic computer skills, attention to detail, a positive attitude, and an interest in events, hospitality, or business are preferred. No prior management or advanced experience is required, as this internship is designed to provide introductory hands-on learning.

Learning Objectives

The learner will develop a foundational understanding of event coordination and sales in a customer-focused business environment. Learning objectives include building skills in communication, organization, customer service, time management, teamwork, and problem-solving. The learner will gain experience supporting party and event planning, handling guest inquiries, assisting with reservation follow-up, and understanding how event details are coordinated from start to finish.
