Description

The SJCPL Communications team is looking for a motivated, creative, and engaged person to help us promote Library services and programs to the community. During this paid internship, you will support the department in producing and distributing print material, creating multimedia content for social media, and designing art for emails and bimonthly Unfold print newsletter. You will work directly with the department’s Graphic Designer and have the opportunity to work with all stages of the marketing process and explore various marketing tactics.

This position is 40 hours per week and pays $15.30 per hour. Review of applications will begin March 16th and continue until the position is filled.

Responsibilities

Once here you will:

  • Develop creative ideas in design and content marketing
  • Create and design print and digital materials using brand guidelines
  • Use graphic design software and work with a wide variety of media
  • Collaborate with the Communications Manager and Graphic Designer to develop design concepts
  • Assemble final presentation material for printing as needed
  • Attend the occasional off-site event or program
  • Support department staff in daily operations.

Qualifications

  • Drivers license with a clean driving record required
  • Basic knowledge of layouts, typography, line composition, color, and other graphic design fundamentals
  • Strong creative and analytical skills
  • Compelling portfolio of graphic design work preferred
  • Experience with Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator preferred
  • Relevant skills also include: Wordpress, web design, social media marketing, photography, and videography
  • Comfortable using Internet, Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and Windows and Mac OS
  • Community-minded
  • Exercise initiative, be enthusiastic, creative, flexible, energetic, value diversity, and possess a sense of humor
  • Bilingual (Spanish) preferred
