Description
SJCPL’s Community Services department is seeking an enthusiastic team player to assist with community outreach efforts. The Summer Outreach Intern will work with library staff to represent SJCPL and promote the library’s resources, services, and programs at fairs, festivals and neighborhood events throughout the local community.

This position is 40 hours per week and pays $15.30 per hour. Review of applications will begin March 16th and continue until the position is filled.
Responsibilities
- Attend community events as a library representative.
- Assist with our Mobile Library, including the book van and the book bike.
- Prepare supplies and crafts for outreach events.
- Present library services in an entertaining and informative way to community members.
- Engage with patrons during outreach events.
- Complete projects that help the Library engage more authentically with our community.
- Support department staff in daily operations.
Qualifications
Preferred qualifications:
- Comfortable with a flexible schedule that includes evenings and weekends.
- Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license.
- Ability to talk to large groups or have one on one conversations with a diverse audience.
- Comfortable using the Internet, Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and Windows and Mac OS.
- Community-minded.
- Exercise initiative, be enthusiastic, creative, flexible, energetic, value diversity, and possess a sense of humor.
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred.
