Description
SJCPL’s Youth Services department is seeking an enthusiastic, creative, and self motivated individual to help with Youth Services daily operations as well as systemwide youth programming and outreach. As our intern, you will assist with the annual Summer Reading Club and youth programming at Main library. You will also assist the Youth Engagement Team to provide quality and relevant programming and outreach throughout the community.

This position is 40 hours per week and pays $15.30 per hour. Review of applications will begin March 16th and continue until the position is filled.
Responsibilities
Once here you will:
- Help promote SJCPL’s Summer Reading Club and other youth initiatives.
- Become familiar with literature, materials, resources, and library services for children and teens.
- Assist with programming and outreach activities system and community wide.
- Assist staff at the Youth Services desk, directing patrons to materials and services.
- Attend department meetings and collaborate with colleagues.
- Support department staff in daily operations.
Qualifications
- Passionate about working with children
- Experience working with youth and their caregivers is preferred
- Comfortable using Internet, Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and Windows and Mac OS
- Community-minded
- Exercise initiative, be enthusiastic, creative, flexible, energetic, value diversity, and possess a sense of humor
- Bilingual (Spanish) preferred
